Dr. Brima Sesay
Dr. Brima Sesay is a distinguished academic and researcher currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics and Commerce at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. He also holds the position of Director of Research and Innovation at the University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH) and works as an Independent National Consultant on Research and Data Analysis.
Dr. Sesay earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Economics from Wuhan University of Technology in China, where he also completed his MSc in Applied Economics with a specialization in Monetary Finance. Additionally, he holds a BSc Honours in Economics from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
Dr. Sesay has extensive experience in academia, having previously lectured at Wuhan University of Technology. He has a robust teaching portfolio that includes courses such as Principles of Microeconomics, Corporate Finance, Financial English, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Research Methods, Intermediate Microeconomics, Academic Research Writing, International Finance, Health Economics, and Cost-Benefit Analysis. His expertise extends to supervising students’ dissertation projects and contributing to academic research and publications.
As a respected figure in his field, Dr. Sesay serves as a reviewer for several prestigious journals, including the Journal of Institutional Economics published by Cambridge University Press, the International Journal of Finance and Economics by WILEY, and the South African Journal of Economic and Management Sciences. His research interests encompass Industrial and Financial Development, Energy Economics, ICT for Development, Innovation Economics, and SDG-related studies. Dr. Sesay’s work has been published extensively in peer-reviewed and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) journals.
Dr. Sesay’s professional experience is complemented by his practical work in project management and implementation. He has served as an Administrative and Project Management Officer at Community Action to Restore Lives (CARL) in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he was responsible for inventory control, project management, and advocacy for human rights. His skills include the use of various social science software packages such as E-views, STATA, SPSS AMOS, NVivo, R, Smart PLS, Matlab, and Python. He is also proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sesay has demonstrated a strong commitment to research and innovation. He has been recognized for his contributions with awards such as the Certificate in University Teaching from the University of Newcastle Institute for Teaching Excellence in Australia and the Outstanding International Graduate Student Award from Wuhan University of Technology. His role as a keynote speaker and chair of a parallel session at international conferences further highlights his standing in the academic community.
